ONCE UPON A TIME - A Poem for the Theme Day.
Introduced by Betty's husband Peter.

Herewith some details of Betty's sequence called "Once upon a time".
It was born on a visit to Weston-Super-Mare where they were having a Sandcastle competition.
She took a mass of pictures and we felt sure that there was a sequence to be made but could not think of a way to do it.
Eventually I suggested I write a poem to string the images together and Betty agreed.
We needed some music and selected "Rambling Rose" played by Acker Bilk.
The Poem, which comprised the total verbal content was read by Betty.
Here it is.

Sandcastles in the Air

The little hand that pats the sand
Builds nothing real at all
She works within a virtual world
Building a dreamland wall

Beneath her hand the castle grows
Reaching high into the sky
There's nothing small about this dream
Or the house she's going to buy

She knows one day a prince will come
Riding a snow white charger
She knows she will be ready for him
As she builds her castle larger

Its a dangerous world she lives in
Where ogres and witches abound
But she wouldn't eat poisoned apples
Or plant any beans in the ground

Her mother has warned about sweeties
And wizards who tempt little girls
So she wouldn't roam in the forest
Or go off with anyone else

She knows about Hansel and Gretel
Who went into the ogre's house
She would do nothing so stupid
But stay safe at home, like a mouse

She goes on building her castle
In her mind it towers above her
But suddenly she breaks it all down
And runs right back to her mother
