'A DAY OUT AT THE BLACK COUNTRY MUSEUM' - which runs for 5m 45s - is a cut down version of the original sequence which was shown at WAVES last year and continues - with a 'live' voiceover - to be shown at a number of Camera Clubs.
Comments made at WAVES on the original showed that to be projected as an AV it needed to be cut in length and to be narrowed in subject. The original covered all 3 main parts of the Museum, but had only a music soundtrack, whereas this version has a full soundtrack and voiceover and only covers the village.
My intention in producing this version was to show the Museum as I first saw it. As I arrived bright and (for me) early, via the lower entrance next to the canal, there were no people around. Despite the arrival of other visitors, as the day wore on, this feeling of empty spaces remained with me.
Some buildings, although quiet and empty now, seemed to retain a feeling of previous industrial, noisy use, and I tried to reflect this in the soundtrack.
Surprisingly early, it seemed to me, the visitors departed - especially from the village part of the Museum - and, again, I tried to reflect this in the ending of the sequence.
The music on the soundtrack is an extract from the 2nd Movement 'Adagio ma non troppo' from Dvorak's 'Cello Concerto in B minor, Opus 104' played by Jacqueline du Pre.
