"Where was I" by Sue Snow CPAGB

My creative spark for a new AV sequence appears to have vanished for the last 18 months. But our club (Wantage) puts on an annual AV festival - so, when Ian (Bateman) asks for your contribution, you feel you're letting the side down if you have nothing to offer. I have plenty of images - just not that idea that can link some together to make an interesting sequence.

I don't like just music and images. For me, the AV sequence needs to grab my attention or keep me involved in some way. So the idea of turning holiday images into a quiz was born.

I jotted down a few ideas for questions based on the sort of general knowledge that our generation of school children learned. Then, out of the hundreds of images I'd taken, I selected a few that might show a flavour of the country without giving the game away too soon. Many images had to be rejected (like 1-9) because they were too obvious.

Creating images with simple questions rather than speech made the whole process of creation much quicker. I'd bought a CD of traditional music whilst on my travels and this provided another clue for an audience to pick up on.

The clues were:-
The land of Fire?
A channel named by a naturalist --- after his ship?
Part of one of the world's greatest river systems?
The capital city?
The capital city - stands on the banks of a river made famous by a battle?
Which mountains range forms a natural boundary between this country & it's neighbour?
Where was I?

There has been some over simplification here which I think is necessary. Other 'hidden' clues, the police PFA badge, the children's faces suggested their origin and the national flag.

So did it work? Did it keep you involved? Or was it just another set of holiday images to snooze to? Comments from those who saw it would be appreciated - especially if you have suggestions for improvement or an alternative approach - or even better, how to unlock the creative spark.
